Dr Nicole Laurence

Leadership Coach, BVSc

Dr Nicole Laurence has worked in the veterinary industry for most of her life, starting in her teens as a kennel hand and working through to owning her own Practice. As a mother of two, Nicole is grateful to the veterinary profession for offering the flexibility to balance work and personal life.

After a 10-year career in mixed and small animal practice in Australia and the United Kingdom, Nicole started Foothills Animal Hospital in Perth. Nicole designed and project managed the hospital build, which opened its doors in 2013.

Foothills achieved ASAV Hospital of Excellence Accreditation, ISFM Cat Friendly Accreditation, and was showcased at the AVA Conference in Perth in 2019. That same year, Foothills was awarded the Australian Veterinary Association VGB National Veterinary Business of the Year award in Sydney.

Nicole is a part Owner and Veterinary Director at Foothills Animal Hospital and continues to work in clinical and management capacities part-time.

Nicole is passionate about supporting women in leadership roles in veterinary business. She has organised Women in Veterinary functions in Perth to celebrate International Women’s Day and started a Women Practice Owners.

One of her greatest rewards is to see those around her become the best version of themselves. She is an advocate for self-awareness to develop confident and capable leaders.

Through coaching and mentoring with Lincoln Institute of Veterinary Business, Nicole’s goal is to educate the principles of leadership to give managers and practice owners a toolbox to handle the challenges they face every day.
