Franklin Vets Pukekohe

By far, my biggest challenge in veterinary practice was maintaining sanity amidst a landscape of increasing compliance requirements, daily communications, responsibilities, and technical information. Then I discovered Lincoln Institute of Veterinary Business.

Our decision to commit to Lincoln Institute as a group was driven by our substantial investment in staff training and workplace culture. There were pressing issues across multiple locations that needed addressing.

I first heard about the Lead to Succeed program from a colleague at a Board meeting.

I approached the idea of Lead to Succeed with a high degree of scepticism. I couldn’t fathom how anyone could comprehend, let alone solve, the complex challenges we were facing.

The advice of others on the Board ultimately swayed my decision. Despite my scepticism, I recognised the need for change.

The most impactful aspect of Lead to Succeed has been the extensive learning in leadership and management. It’s provided me with a heightened awareness of how to motivate and lead a team effectively. I now have a deeper understanding of my own impact on those around me and how to utilise it for everyone’s benefit.

Since implementing Lead to Succeed, our clinic has seen remarkable improvements in net promoter scores and customer survey feedback. The clinic’s turnover and profitability have seen substantial increases, and we’re even in the unique position of turning away veterinary applicants.

My outlook, both personally and professionally, has become more positive.

The outcome I aimed for was to develop better leadership and management skills. The feedback I’ve received from those around me regarding my changed style and improved relations has been incredible.

The practice has seen improvements in turnover, profit, staff retention, customer retention, and net promoter score as a direct result of Lead to Succeed.

To anyone considering Lead to Succeed, I firmly say, do it. The initial investment of time and money may seem significant, but the returns are immeasurable.

From being the most critical and cynical about the value of this program, I’ve transformed into its most passionate advocate. I even took the initiative to create my own comprehensive document summarising the learnings from the course, which I refer to weekly; a testament to its profound impact on me.
